Juvederm

Juvederm fillers are FDA approved crystal-clear gels used to treat specific imperfections of the skin, most commonly on the face. The Juvederm injection is made of natural hyaluronic acid; a substance that already exists in your skin naturally, which is used to fill gaps in facial areas where folds or wrinkles may occur. The procedure is neither aggressive nor surgical. You are injected by dermatologist Dr. Behroozan and you can expect to reach optimal results within a few days. The effects should last six to twelve months with minimal side effects (which may include bumps, redness, sensitivity, mild pain and swelling of the injected area). Most side effects clear up within a week with very few exceptions. If a side effect remains for a longer period, please contact our office. At the beginning of the procedure, a small dose of anesthetic is injected into the area to limit pain and discomfort. Most cosmetic dermatologists, including Dr. Behroozan, prefer to use Juvederm because it is quick, painless and simple facial filler which uses a naturally occurring polymer in the human body rather than chemicals. The main areas that Juvederm best treats include facial wrinkles, acne and surgical scars, dark circles under the eyes, deep folds, and creases of the lips, cheeks, and the chin. Another popular Juvederm treatment is augmenting your lips.

Dr. Behroozan asks patients not to drink alcohol, smoke, expose yourself to heat or sunlight, use makeup, swim or exercise for twenty four hours following the procedure. Since Juvederm is a natural substance, you can expect varied results based not only on the degree & skin condition of the problematic areas but also on following skin treatments & maintenance after each session of Juvederm. In some cases Dr. Behroozan will recommend a different cosmetic solution based on the severity of your condition.

Please note if you are pregnant or nursing you should not use Juvederm but ask about alternatives. Other conditions such as severe allergies, skin infections, looser or thinner skin, chronic medical conditions including heart problems and other conditions should be discussed with doctor Behroozan prior to injection. As a cosmetic dermatologist, he will personally make the Juvederm injections into the specified areas once you are deemed a good candidate. The ideal candidate should meet the following requirements:

• Good physical health
• Good emotional health
• Willingness to speak with Dr. Behroozan prior to the procedure and willingness to openly discuss other potential treatments and what you expect to be done on each of the problem areas.
• Have a realistic expectation for the outcome of the procedure. Patients who have these types of expectations often leave the office disappointed, no matter how well the filler works. A common mistake amongst patients is to assume that the results will last for a very long time. Majority of the Juvederm results will last six to twelve months.
