Stretch marks
Stretch marks are a form of scarring on the skin. Stretch marks are generally associated with pregnancy, fluctuations in weight (loss or gain), growth factors, and intense physical activity.
Various treatments are available for the purpose of improving the appearance of existing stretch marks, including V-beam laser treatments, dermabrasion, and presciption topical medications.
A new treatment, fractional laser resurfacing (Fraxel® Laser), offers a novel approach to treating stretch marks. In a 2007 clinical trial, 5-6 treatments had resulted in stretch mark improvement by as much as 75 percent.
